About the Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Superintendent to join our Capricorn Copper operation in Queensland. This site-based role reports to the General Manager – Operations and operates on an 8:6 roster.

Your focus will be on managing the statutory electrical maintenance and process control departments, plus planning, scheduling, tracking and recording of all electrical compliance related works and site maintenance.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all electrical maintenance, works, shutdowns, contractors and site-wide electrical activities.
  • Ensuring electrical work is performed safely, competently, compliantly and to required standards.
  • Controlling electrical risk, authorisations, isolations and work around HV and energised equipment.
  • Owning the integrity of electrical designs, installations, protection systems, controls, drawings and technical standards.
  • Maintaining electrical risk registers, compliance, assurance, audits and corrective actions across the site.
  • Leading electrical engineering standards, statutory PCEW responsibilities and the electrical components of the SHMS.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have strong electrical leadership experience, technical expertise and statutory knowledge within a mining environment, plus a strong focus on electrical safety, compliance, risk management and operational excellence.

Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical Mechanic License.
  • Extensive experience in electrical projects, maintenance and operations in both an underground mining and mining processing environment.
  • Experience as a PCEW in QLD (desirable).
  • Experience in contractor management (desirable).
  • Current C-class manual driver’s licence.

About 29Metals and Capricorn Copper

Capricorn Copper is a high-grade underground mine with a strong history of copper and silver production. Its substantial ore reserves and further exploration potential support a mine life of more than 10 years.

Following an extreme weather event, operations were suspended in 2024, but significant investment is underway to support recovery and expansion. The Queensland Government has declared the Capricorn Copper Recovery and Extension Project a prescribed and critical infrastructure project, and a restart feasibility study is now underway. Together, these developments represent significant progress towards a potential return to production.
